A systematic English program is implemented parallel to the development characteristics of the students in 4th and 5th grades. The system incorporates the following programs in language learning: - Topic-Based and Task-Based Contemporary Education Methods (Main Course)
- CEF Language Portfolio program ( Common European Framework)
The students learn target language according to their own levels, peer-group characteristics and by living their own dreams and establishing links with real life. Student progress is observed via routine “checktests” and constant teacher observation. Every weekend “worksheets” are handed out to students to associate newly-learned topics outside of the school. Moreover, parents are informed about the flow of the English language program through monthly newsletters. A large number of activities and projects are being carried out to support the social development of students and to achieved pre-determined language targets. Since our students have already reached a certain level in language knowledge, we take up visits to foreign countries, where students can understand the culture of instructed language and observe the living spaces of the people. With the 4th grade, besides 12 hours of English and 4 hours of German the learners are given an opportunity to choose a third language which is Chinese or French. While the implemented language program of this group makes it possible for us to attain certain language targets, it also is well integrated with the LGS education system. Student progress is evaluated in certain intervals, pursued and supportive efforts are carried out in required times.
